Then thinking I was a cannibal for wanting to eat that man! Then listening to Hall and Oates sing Maneater and feeling much better about my appetite.

It was a real battle of emotions with all these 80s celebrities. I needed to put on my armour before entering the battlefield of love. And taking after Pat Benatar I donned the same armour she wore. A spandex suit.

Was I drugged or poisoned? I think it was poison I'd ask for extras!

HALL AND OATES - BEST OF THE 80s

HALL AND OATES

HALL AND OATES PICTURES

The best selling duo of of all time were superstars of the 80s music scene!

D Hall & J Oates

Daryl Hall and John Oates. Hall and Oates. You can tell where they got the band name from, but apparently they both didn't like being called by their last names. Felt like they were back in high school gym class, or some drill sergeant was reaming them out..."Hall, get down and give me twenty!" But, the duo name stuck and there was no going back.

Hall and Oates

These two really hit it off after they first met at University in the late 60s. They were both playing in different bands, but realized they liked the same kind of music...and sixty years later they are still playing together.

Hall and Oates Party Animals!

I happen to run across their PBS special back in 2019. Boy, do they look old now. But, they still play amazing. One of those long haul duos that will never split...I hope.

There are sometimes questions about their relationship. Are they 'together'. Some of the old pics of Hall seem like he could be into men, but it turns out they are more like brothers.

As time passes and seasons change so does my favourite Hall and Oates song. When I was younger it was Maneater! That funky, motowny, bass line really turned my crank.

Then You Make My Dreams Come True was my number one hit for awhile. Probably about the time that movie Three Men And A Baby came out.

There is only one ORIGINAL HALL AND OATES

Private eyes, I can't go for that, Out of Touch, Kiss on my list, Say it isn't so, Method of modern love, are always on my play list.

No Hall and Oates on the playlist, say it isn't so!

There is one song I almost forgot about, until I heard it on the radio the other day. Rich Girl! Remember that one? It's a little older, and has that kind of disco era feel to it, but I still love it.

Hall and Oates were never Out of Touch!

Anyway, enough from this Hall and Oates fan.

80s MUSIC MEMES for a laugh

MORE 80s MUSIC MEMES

I'm still listening to my 80s music. The 1980s were a different time. For one thing the girls were into hair bands - which were usually men dressed up like women.

A great example, Motley Crue. The girls girls girls went crazy over Motley Crue.

Girls went crazy over the Motley Crue!
I'm still listening to the Crue. I relive the old times by putting on my high waisted jeans and playing the vinyl. The original vinyl that I bought from Sam the Record man in 1985!

I found my record collection the other day, and to my surprise I found A-HA! I loved take on me!
A-HA, the band from the 80s. Found them!
My vinyl collection was mostly made up of New Wave music. What the heck does New Wave even mean? Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, Adam Ant, Psychedelic Furs...I'm still confused.
Duran Duran were New Wave
I found my Elton John - Still Standing single. Rod Steward was leaning against it. What a meme to find.

There was also a picture attached to a Skid Row album of the time I tried to make my hair bigger than any hair band member. It was tough, but I did it. 1987!!!

Couldn't find my Hall and Oates records. I went through that phase where anything 'pop' was burned. Say it ain't so!

I picked up a Dirty Dancing record at a yard sale. I always pictured Hungry Eyes as a cartoon wolf.

Billy Idol and Gen X made up a chunk of the milk carton of vinyl. Wonder if Billy really did want a White Wedding. White tuxedos were hip in the 80s, combined with pink cumber buns.
Billy Idol did he want a White Wedding
And, what the heck was Phil Collins singing about in Suddio? I'm pretty sure he didn't even know.

In the Air Tonight, still love the drum part in that song. Apparently Phil played a lot of instruments other than the drums. He played a little guitar. The obo?

Great guitar players that I think were overlooked - the guy from Dire Straits. Boy could those guys play a lick. They were more than the Sultans of Swing. Not quite a Van Halen, but great in their own way.

HALL AND OATES MEMES

FUNNY HALL AND OATES

I love Daryl Hall and Johnny Oates. Their songs from the early 80s are on all of my playlists. But, the best part about this fantastic duo is that they were so 80s. Their hair, their clothes, their attitude, and the moustache! I love looking at old photos of these dudes and having a little chuckle.

Hall and Oates - the 80s

First up we've got John Oates, the moustache guy. I think he won awards for that 'stash. It was right up there with Tom Selleck.

Cut the stash? Oates can't go for that
And, John, always having fun during photoshoots.

Hall and Oates were not only my favourite band of the 80s, they were awarded Best Band / Favourite Band by the American Music Awards in 1982, 1983, AND 1984. Wow, that is an achievement! So is wearing these gold sparkling 80s outfits...

And their jean jacket with jeans look, especially when they came to Canada.

Hall and Oates rockin the Canadian Tuxedo
They were so popular at the time they could get away with anything - breaking MTV, having bad hair, wearing tacky clothing...

Hall and Oates MTV

Fans couldn't get enough of these guys. They were great at mixing in with the locals when they went on world tours and such.

Hall and Oates funny!
Often I wonder about their songs. Your Kiss Is On My List - I get that it's cute, and sweet, that you'd have a list and put your girlfriend's name on it. But, it can sound kind of creepy if you think about it.

Hall and Oates Your Kiss is on my list

Hall and Oates are coming for the kiss that is on my list
And Maneater, their number 1 song from '82, sounds kind of cannibalistic.

I Can't Go For That, their '81 hit, always had me questioning...what couldn't they go for?!

Free Viagra - Hall and Oates Can Go For That
I did find a nice remix of "I can't go for that" overdubbed with "I ain't got time for that". Just shows that Hall and Oates is still hip with the kids today.

I know I'm poking fun at these guys, but truthfully I still love them. I'm always playing their songs in my house, in my car, and in my dreams (which they make come true). I'm pretty excited they are back on tour this summer and might even try to see them when they come near. Here is a link to their concert dates https://www.hallandoates.com/tour . That is something I Can Go For!
