FUNNY 80s Memes

Hilarious 1980s memes

When someone at the office likes the same 80s bands that you do:

The 80s living room. We all had this velvety flowery couch, or your grandma did.

Get the cassette in the Fiero que'd up, we going to the mall babe.

Cool 80s dude

Nobody every said, 'i lost my phone', in the 80s!

Nobody ever said I lost my phone

WHAM! I know as a teen in the 80s I didn't want to wake up before you go go'd.

Wake Me Up Before You go go Wham!

Remember long distance phone rates were outrageously high, then there was this new '10 cents' a minute thing *after 10 pm, certain states, certain dates, non-competing phone lines only...

80s phone calls were not 10 cents a minute

We could debate for hours who was bad - Michael Jackson or Mr T.

80s Music Memes - very funny

Funny memes about 80s music

BLONDIE, the literally named band that we all know and love. With super hits like Heart of Glass, Call Me, Gonna Get Ya...

Blondie, Call me - doesn't give number

Blondie - gonna get ya

I really liked Foreigner and their rockin' hits, like Urgent, Hot Blooded, and Cold as Ice. Ever take the lyrics literally?

Cold as Ice - not to be taken literally

Speaking of lyrics, what was Def Lep thinking when they wrote Hysteria? Just trying to find a rhyming word with malaria, or diphtheria or careeria-ending-lyrics...who knows?

Def Leppard song writing session
I do still have a landline, just like in the 80s. You hear new music reference cell phones, but they'll never compare to the old landlines, cords and all!

Stevie Wonder and Lionel Ritchie landline joke

Stevie Wonder was wonderful in the 80s too. I think I wore out his 45s, like Part Time Lover, or I just called to say I love, and Isn't She Lovely. He looked pretty cool to.

Stevie Wonder's part time lovers were eligible for dental benefits

I just called to say meme

Stevie Wonder Part Time Lovers, nobody got time for that

And, you can't forget to mention TV in the 80s. Come on ALF? A stuffed animal has his own prime time show! And, the staple of daytime television - The Price is Right? Am I right? I hear Bob Barker is still listening to the 80s music.

80s MEMES

Iconic 80s in meme form!

Remember toys in cereal boxes? I do. I recall the sticky octopus. Throwing that sucker against the wall and watching it slowly climb down. What I mostly remember about the wall climbing octopus was the dust it collected. You didn't want to let that thing actually touch the ground, or fall under a refridgerator with all the dust bunnies.

The 80s was that decade that started this whole entitled generation of rock stars. It started with Van Halen and no brown M&Ms. Before all this rock stars, like Billy Idol, did menial things like make their own tea!

Billy Idol makes his own tea. Early 80s.
Remember smoking in restaurants? The waitress would ask you, "smoking or non", like the three feet difference in a closed room made a difference. I can still taste a Big Mac laced with that rich smokey flavour of cigarettes.

Big Mac and a smoke - 80s dining
I loved growing up in the 80s. Playing pac-man at the local greasy spoon until the streetlights came on...then you knew it was time to hustle your butt home or Mom would be yelling your name down the street!

Streetlights are on. Time to go home.
The music! 80s music was so great. It still is. In fact, I still find myself rocking out to it while working in the garage. Sometimes a Bon Jovi, or Skid Row song will come on and I'll grab a broom and air guitar!
Share if you still rock out to 80s music
TV too. 80s tv programming was so great. I must have spent half my waking hours turning the knob on our TV back and forth between the three channels that the antenna could pick up. One of my favourite shows was Hercules. Remember, 'hey Herc?' I saw this picture the other day and thought how it reminded me of the Lord of The Rings.

80s cartoon Hercules reminds me of the LOTR

I also liked Pee Wee Herman. Man, that guy was funny. I always wanted to have a word of the day. But, I wanted it to be something like Motley Crue!

Pee Wee Herman secret word is MOTLEY CRUE
A lot of the old bands are making a come back; reunion tour; one last grab at the pot. They are all looking really old. I saw a pic of ZZ Top the other day and was like, 'Oh my god, the ZZ Top guy looks like Dumbledore from Harry Potter!"

HILARIOUS 80s MEMORIES

FUNNY MEMORIES FROM THE 80s

The first personal computers. We did not have one, but I had a few friends who had Commodore 64s or Vic 20s or MacIntosh Apple Computers! I remember those early games, heck that's how everyone learned anything about The Oregon Trail. We learned new words like DYSENTERY that we had to look it up in a paper dictionary.

How kids learned about the Oregon Trail

Oregon Trail killing kids with Dysentery since the 80s

Oregon Trail - you have died of dysentery
Atari was huge too. It was a revolutionary idea to have an arcade game at home, on your tube TV! Again, I never had one (wow, was I a deprived kid or what?) but I had friends who did. What I remember most is the dire warnings Moms would give you about being too close to the TV when you played...

80s video games - you are too close to the TV you will ruin your eyes
The TV. I loved watching Alf and his misadventures trying to catch the family cat! Imagine he read the crude scrawls on the bathroom stall by Tommy Tutone. Alf would love some good cat, so he'd call 867-5309!

Alf calling 867-5309 looking for cat
The Knight Rider was one manly dude. The Hoff! Until he chose the drink of a new generation, diet style...

The Hoff promoting Diet Pepsi
That's okay I had many other manly macho role models, like Hercules and He-Man. Complete with their tight white shirts and pink vests cinched at the waist with a fashionable belt!
He-Man the manly role model of my childhood

I guess that is why I resorted to the fantasy world of WWF. Hulk Hogan was my fav. Remember he would take on giants and communists and always win! That's what we need to bring back. Make America Strong Again right Hulk!?

MURDER SHE WROTE MEMES

Murder She Wrote with Jessica Fletcher

That long running 80s tv show Murder She Wrote, with the infamous mystery writer Jessica Fletcher, was (and is still) so good to watch. Jessica seems to solve almost impossible mysteries with wit, humour, luck, and a stretching of the law. What a funny old lady. The only real mystery with this show was why nobody questioned the absurdly high murder rate in the small town of Cabot cove?! Everyone seemed to be shocked when there was another murder, yet it happened at least once a week. Funny.

Jessica Fletcher is shocked at another murder in Cabot Cove
Imagine the tourism board trying to give Cabot Cove a good reputation. A place where you would want to visit. Unfortunately, all they really have is that Cabot Cove is the murder capital of Maine. That could work actually!

Cabot Cove the murder capital of Maine
The tourism board could fall back on the fact that they have a famous mystery writer in town?

Visit Cabot Cove Jessica Fletcher lives there
Just add a picturesque scene of the Maine coastline and Jessica Fletcher! What could go wrong?!

Jessica Fletcher ready to take on the day and a mystery
I also wonder why Jessica is allowed to get involved in every murder. This is a serious crime and she ignores the fact that she is just a regular citizen, not an offical of the law, and she goes through evidence, questions witnesses, etc.

Jessica Fletcher ignored the boundaries of the law every episode
It's like she thinks she is above the law! And, the funny part is nobody every stops her!

Murder she wrote is above the law - funny!
But, when push comes to shove she can back up her little "pushing of the envelope" by the fact that she has solved hundreds and hundreds of crimes (while the police have solved none).

Jessica Fletcher solves the mysteries, the police do not!
She has solved mysteries in Cabot Cove (those are the best episodes IMO) and in other cities, like Boston and New York City!

Murder she wrote meme
And, I love her attitude. It's not obnoxious, but, confident. Edgy confident.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it - Jessica Fletcher
One of the best episodes was the cross over between Magnum PI and Murder She Wrote - how 80s is that?! Wonder why Matlock was not invited?

Murder she wrote and Magnum PI crossover - where's Matlock?
Why was the show so popular you ask? Maybe it was lack of choice back in the day? Maybe it was what the public was looking for - a strong willed older woman who would step over lines to get results? Who knows? It's a mystery? Get Jessica Fletcher on the case.

DAVID LEE ROTH | VAN HALEN FASHION

DAVID LEE ROTH FRONTMAN FOR VAN HALEN WAS A FASHION ICON

When you think fashion and 80s you've gotta have some pictures of David Lee Roth flashing through that old brain of yours.
I like how the girls coordinate with his suit.

The skin tight pants, often in a rainbow of neon colours.
Wow, that is what I call colourful!

Tassles and tassles to add movement to the fabrics.

What kind of fabric is that!?
Stripes of all kinds. Maybe even some furried booties!

The whole crew was into full body matching suits - rock on !
Or maybe you forgot about the booties and just remembered the tiger wear?

Roar before Katy Perry did it!

Not even sure how to describe this crotch protecting shirt.

The eyes, they travel...they follow the lines of the shirt. I can't help it!

I do appreciate his fancy white gloves...

Spandex suit with gloves. I bet he was sweatin.

Those gloves go with all kinds of outfits.

Now, that is more classy!

Even the lack of clothing was on trend at the time. As long as you were wearing a hat, right?

You know what they say about a big hat...

Personally, I still sport the muscle shirt with the cute saying on it.

But, David's fashion choices did have a practical purpose. Most of those outfits were stretchy, so he could jump and kick while performing to the songs.

Ouch!

The lack of shirt must have allowed DLR to open that diaphram and really sing those unforgettable lyrics and the oohs and aahs to go with them.

Enough of David - check out some previous Van Halen Memes: http://80sthrowbackparty.blogspot.ca/2017/05/van-halen-dump.html
