CRINGY 80S SONG LIP SYNCS

There is fine line between funny and cringy.

I'll let you decide if this lip sync does justice to the 80s song or not.

80s SONGS JOKES AND MEMES

FUNNY MEMES - MUSIC FROM THE 80s

The winter is coming to an end, but, there still may be a freak storm ahead. Joe Jackson may want to take note and not be 'steppin' out tonight'.
Joe Jackson won't be steppin' out
The weather forecaster suggests that next week will be cold, but, then insinuated that it may turn hot if you dail Jenny's phone number - which is secretly coded into the temperatures.
Jenny's number 867-5309 is in the forecast
Looks like Zach is taking the forecast for all that it's worth and dailing 867-5309!
Using an 80s cell phone to dail up 867-5309, Jenny!
The weather may bring a change in air pressure...now if I could only remember how to calculate that. I know I'll ask David Bowie, he knows about stuff being Under Pressure, and the formula for figuring it all out.
Under Pressure with David Bowie
But, we know the warmer weather is coming. I can't wait to get out my classic 1984 Trans Am and burn down the highway. Unlike Sammy Hagar I won't drive over 55 - I can drive 55!
Sammy Hagar made it very clear he can't drive 55
I'll probably pop open the T-roof on my Trans Am, which will make it windy and make my eyes water. That will remind me of Tears for Fears and I'll want to listen to Songs from the big chair. I'll shout, shout, let it all out while driving.
Tears for Fears - Songs from the big chair literally
Then I'll probably be wishing for No More Tears, as Ozzy sings. I'll probably stop and buy some J&J baby shampoo.
Ozzy Osborne - No More Tears!
I'll probably be having some much fun reliving my youth that I'll drive around all day. By the time I get home it'll be nighttime. I'll be onto playing Bruce Springsteen by then, and you know what he says to do when it gets dark - dance. Dance in the dark, right? I always do what The Boss says.
Dancing in the dark with Bruce Springsteen
As soon as I walk into the door I'll see my reflection in a mirror and realize the wind did wonders for my hair. If I wanted huge wind blown 80s hair, which I did. Just like Reo Speedwagon!
Reo Speedwagon couldn't fight the feeling they had big hair
It's then I realize I had tickets to the orchestra. The electric light orchestra. At least I have the right hairdo for it.
ELO joke
I'm not sure if I should go, or even if I want to go. Last time I ran into Pat Benatar and ended up being escorted out of the concert by security. I hit her with my best shot - a right hook.
Hit Pat Benatar with my best shot - a right hook!
Maybe I'll just stay home and pop in a tape, a VHS tape. Maybe Police Academy or Revenge of the Nerds?
Back in my day we watched VHS movies
However, if you feel like going please give me a call. Don't worry about how late you call, I may be asleep, but, I'd rather you wake me up before you go go. Actually, scrap that thought. You go go before you wake me up, okay?

80s MUSIC JEOPARDY QUESTIONS

FUNNY 80s MUSIC QUESTIONS FEATURED ON JEOPARDY

There have been a few times that questions on that great game show Jeopardy have been related to 80s music - now, that is a category I could beat Ken Jennings at! And, the umph that Alex Trebeck puts into those questions just shows us how much he loves his 80s music too!

I wouldn't be surprised if Greg Kihn's song Jeopardy was not about love, but, about that quiz show!

Alex Trebeck and Greg Kihn Band both share JEOPARDY
I love this clue about Rick Astley - he's never gonna give you up... a multi answer response! Sounds like Alex was the judge on that question!

Rick Astley is never gonna give you up, let you down on Jeopardy
The absolute best episode was when the Final Jeopardy question was: Ancient History: 1987!

It was a music question. A 'name-that-band' type of question. We were given the following lyrics,

GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS
Pretty obvious to any hair metal fans out there - including Alex, who is a big fan of 80s rock!

The first contestant answers something close to Twisted Sister...

Ugh, what is Twister Sister Alex?
Alex Trebeck is not impressed. In fact he started to lose his cool a bit.

Alex Trebeck corrects them - it's TWISTED SISTER
The next guy takes a wild stab and says WHAM! "What? They are an 80s band", he says.

Who is WHAM? George Michael and the other guy.
Apparently, WHAM is not to Alex's liking.

Alex Trebeck doesn't like WHAM
The last contestant is closer, but, still off by enough that any self respecting Motley Crue fan would get offended. Alex is one of those fans.

Girls, Girls, Girls by Monty Crew
Before Alex loses his 'stuff' completely on these numbskulls he does the professional thing and says good-bye to the viewers.

Alex loves his Motley Crue
Man, I would have rocked that show. Finally, a Jeopardy episode where I wouldn't be in the negative.

NEW WAVE SONG QUOTES

80s New Wave Gave Us Some Great Song Quotes

I find myself humming tunes from 80s new wave songs all the time. There are some lyrics that get stuck in my head and loop over and over and over and over...

The Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star

I think of this song everytime I see and old VCR. Yes, I see them a lot b/c I do a fair bit of thrift store shopping and visit antique markets (yes, the VCR is now an antique!)

“In my mind and in my car
We can’t rewind we’ve gone too far
Pictures came and broke your heart

Put all the blame on VCR”

Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star

The Pretenders - Don't Get Me Wrong

When I'm out diamond collecting or visiting my local jeweller (which happens once a decade) I see light refracted, which reminds me of the Pretenders' song Don't Get Me Wrong. How scientific / geeky is that reference to light refracting?

“Don’t get me wrong
If I split like light refracted"

The Pretenders - Don't Get Me Wrong

Gary Numan - Cars

I heard this song occasionally, ironically, only on the radio in my car. However, I hear it in my head all the time. It's an earworm that reappears often for some reason. Maybe because it is so catchy!

Here in my car
I feel safest of all
I can lock all my doors
It's the only way to live
in cars!

Gary Numan - Cars

The Cars - Let The Good Times Roll

Speaking of cars, how about my favourite new wave band The Cars?! Let the good times roll (on four wheels?) is a lick that rolls around in my ear all the time. Why? I can't explain the brain, sorry.

The Cars - Let The Good Times Roll

Orchestra Movements In The Dark - If You Leave

I still think the name of the band is so strange, but, that's how bands are right? Artistic, creative, pushing the boundaries. And, everything can be explained by saying, 'hey, it was the 80s'.
The song If You Leave takes you right back to The Breakfast Club and that whole 80s era. If I hear this song in the morning it takes over my mind and repeats all day - which is both good and bad.

Orchestra Movements In The Dark - If You Leave

As a side note: I wonder if movements by the orchestra in the dark drive the conductor insane? I bet they do.

Orchestra Movements In The Dark - 80s music or conductor's pet peeve

The Police - Can't Stand Losing

This song literally repeats over and over again - both in my mind and in the song. Once you start you know you can't stop until you've repeated the chorus about sixteen times. What a great song. I had the cassette.

The Vapours - Turning Japanese

In the 80s Japan was on the minds of many in the music industry. They had the walkman! This influence was shown through the forefront of music - The Vapours! Their hit Turning Japanese really brought this shift in world dominance to the forefront. And it was fun to sing!

The Vapours - Turning Japanese song quote

For you hardcore Vapour fans, I've found a really strange take on the song - turning Japanese = turning into Godzilla.
