80s MUSIC CONNECT FOUR - "HOUSE"
Four 80s music memories connected by the word 'HOUSE'
This is kind of like PEEWEE HERMAN's secret word of the day. Now, whenever you read the word HOUSE, scream real loud okay?
Today's secret word is not very fun - 'house' |
OUR HOUSE. That song by MADNESS was one of my favourite songs. It was on the first mixed tape I ever had. I was a dumb kid who took the words literally. I thought 'our house in the middle of our street' meant the house was in the middle of the road, that cars and trucks and buses would smash into it. That's what I pictured in my dumb kid mind.
Here is a house that is literally in the middle of the street! |
So, picture a house in the middle of the street. Well, lo and behold, just down the road is another house. This house is creepy. The shades are drawn, the lawn overgrown, and every once in a while you'll see a fleeting image of an old man peering out at you. Creepy eh? Well, the next song that connects with HOUSE is The Old Man Down The Road - JOHN FOGERTY. Coincidentally, it was also a song on my first mixed tape. Sometimes I would fast forward past the song b/c it was sounded scary to me - especially when I'd sneak the tape player into bed with me at night.
The old man down the road |
BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE - TALKING HEADS. This strikes me as a song that would have been on my first mixed tape, but, I'm not 100% sure. I am sure that this song has the 'HOUSE' (SCREAM!) connection though. And, as a kid I took the lyrics literally again, 'burning down the house'. Another song that I didn't listen to right before bed...I had this weird fear that our house would burn down. Wonder if it was thanks to this song? Hmm.

Very 80s eh? |

80s MUSIC MEMES - LAUGH WITH ME
80s MUSIC and THE MEMEs
John Bon Jovi is loved, I mean loved, by woman worldwide. So, this meme really hits home with the many fans of JBJ. Bon Jovi could put his good looks to good use. I know I'd be in that line up...to help solve world hunger. Ya, that's it.I'm a big reader. Not a big reader of 80s books, but, more in the vein of YA (the cool sounding acronym for TEEN books) and SCIFI (which means cool). I'm assuming most of you are illiterate and therefore will recognize this next meme from the movie version of Hunger Games. It's the baker's son...kneading bread...that's funny...a 'Cheap Trick' if you may! Now I'm hilarious!
The next meme is funny b/c it's a 50s mom cranking AC/DC in her Chevy. The only thing that would make this funnier would be a swear word.
Now, onto 80s movies. What would happen if you took the Busters out of Ghostbusters...you get this disaster...
Now, what if you asked a group of people, 'who you gonna call'...and they didn't answer the way you wanted what would you do? Ectoplasm them?
Now, if you are a true '80s person' what would you do if you saw this...
You invert your car and flash everyone the 'bird' right? Right Goose?
Now, back to music. If you are a true '80s person' you would look at this Hall & Oates cover and think nothing of it. If you are not an '80s person', you would think WTF is that?!
Everyone, even us '80s people', will get a laugh out of these pics...and if you don't then please leave.
Now, you may return to your glamour shots with the dog.
LIKE HALL AND OATES? WE HAVE MEMES!

80s Memes - MORE FUN
MORE FUN 80s MEMES
You know it's true - when someone asks who your fav band is do you say "Bruno Mars"? No, you say, Scorpions or Duran Duran or even Stevie Wonder!
Who wants plain black yoga pants when you can have some style? 80s style.
I think it was a sign.
For you science nerds - Hg is Mercury.
A close substitute is early 90s sportz jams.
Red Red Wine. One of those earworms (a song that gets stuck in my head)
Def makes it 'great'
Must have been casual Friday?
Vampires used to be scary.
